June Barton OAM is professionally qualified in nursing, public health and social science.
She has served on a variety of public advisory & professional bodies, and worked effectively with government, political, social, cultural, and commercial organisations.
Ms Barton was a founding member of Melville Cares, and is currently its patron and b board member. Melville Cares is a community-based not-for-profit organisation that provides aged care support services to elderly people in the community, to assist them in living independently.
She is also a councillor at the City of Melville, having previously served as mayor for two terms, and is a Freeman of the City.
In 1998, Ms Barton was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community of Cockburn, particularly through the provision of children's services, and to local government.
