Jon Stewart has been a co-founder and chair of both Australis Oil & Gas and Aurora Oil & Gas. He served as Aurora executive chairman until its takeover by Baytex Energy in 2014. He had been appointed as a director in February 2005 and served as executive chairman and CEO until recruiting a new CEO late in 2012 and separating those roles. Mr Stewart was previously chairman of Elixir Petroleum and an executive director of Eureka Energy, which Aurora acquired in 2012. A qualified chartered accountant, he has held executive management positions in listed and unlisted companies in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Russia and Azerbaijan.
