On completion of a 5 year AFL career with Melbourne and North Melbourne football clubs, John Ahern began his career in hospitality by obtaining the lease of the Mortlake Pub TAB. In 2008 with business partner Steve Garcia, John formed The Publican Group Australia. Currently The Publican Group’s Victorian portfolio includes Campari House, The Wharf Hotel, The Rocks, Mr Mason, Terra Rossa, Veludo Bar & Restaurant, World Restaurant & Bar and Rivers Edge Events. Additionally, its West Australian portfolio includes The George, The Aviary and The Byrneleigh.
