Professor Jill Downie is an established national and international researcher with numerous publications and conference presentations, including keynote addresses.
Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Curtin University of Technology for five years, Prof Downie was appointed Professor of Nursing in 2006. Since 2003, Prof Downie was a senior research fellow in the Centre for Research in Ageing. She became Curtin University's Pro Vice-Chancellor of Health Sciences in August 2007 and was deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic from July 2012 to April 2022.
Prof Downie is on the editorial board of the international publication Western Journal of Nursing Research. Her areas of research interest are in ageing, maternal and child health and community health nursing.
