Jack Sato is an economist by education and has over 30 years of business experience. He has managed multi-billion dollar business in major mining and trading firms.
Mr Sato has also developed extensive global and Australia specific networks and expertise in commercial, project management, operations and corporate governance. He has a broad resource sector exposure in handling a variety of products including coal, ferrous raw materials (steel scrap, semi-steel products, pig iron, HBI, ferro alloys), iron ore and copper/gold.
Before joining Rio Tinto in 1995, Mr Sato had responsibilities for M&A, JV establishment and management with commodity trading at Mitsui & Co, a Japanese global trading house. As managing director of supply chain, infrastructure at Rio Tinto and Robe River Iron Ore, Mr Sato was instrumental in developing Rio Tinto Iron Ore as Australia’s biggest iron ore producer.
Mr Sato spent 2 years as chief operating officer of Oyu Tolgoi, Mongolia (a Rio Tinto managed, one of world’s biggest copper and gold mine) before joining AvidSys in 2015.
