Ian Cowie PSM is the chief executive at the City of Gosnells, one of Western Australia’s largest local governments, and has held this position for more than 7 years. Prior to joining local government in 2006, Mr Cowie was a State public servant for 18 years in a variety of positions in regional development, housing and local government. Mr Cowie has an honours degree in Geography from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2013, he was announced Leader of the Year in Local Government by IPAA WA and in 2014, he was awarded the Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for Service to the City of Gosnells.
