Ian Brown is a successful entrepreneur with global commercial experience across industries. He has taken various early stage science and technology projects and new business model projects and created successful businesses.
He is passionate about helping people discover and pursue new commercial opportunities and creating a step-change. Ian does this by using established, customer-centric frameworks to create a plan that enables projects to come to life, while de-risking and becoming investor-ready. A highly-respected advisor in his field, Ian works one-on-one to mentor existing entrepreneurs and to coach new entrepreneurs.
Mr Brown is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at INSEAD where he runs mentoring sessions with MBA Candidates and is a judge in the INSEAD Venture Competition. Mr Brown also co-facilitates and mentors on the INSEAD sci-tech bootcamp business model design programme.
He is co-designer and co-facilitator of the CSIRO ON Accelerate programme, the CSIRO ON Prime and ON Prime Defence Programmes, the CSIRO ON LaunchCamp and ON LaunchCamp Defence Programmes, and the CSIRO ON Industry Engagement Programme.
Mr Brown is chair of InterGrain, REX Ortho, Omni Innovation and Perth Angels. Previously, he has served on boards of listed and unlisted public companies and on boards of private companies. He has helped to craft many strategic initiatives including multiple licensing deals (including one of Australia’s largest licensing deals in 2015), several spin-outs, multiple private and public fund-raising initiatives, two IPOs and an asset sale.
Mr Brown has lived and worked in London, Milan, Gothenburg, Melbourne and Perth; and has also worked on significant projects in the USA, Asia and Japan.
