Dominic Barton is a Ugandan-born Canadian business executive, author, management consultant, and diplomat.

He has been the Canadian Ambassador to China since September 2019, and joined the board of Rio Tinto in April 2022 and become chair in May.

Mr Barton was the managing director of global consulting firm McKinsey & Company from 2009 to 2018, having joined the company in 1986 as a management consultant. He has advised Canadian governments on public sector transformation and economic growth.

He holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from Oxford University where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
