David Hohnen

David Hohnen founded Cape Mentelle Vineyards in 1970 and ran the business until 2003, when he stepped back following the bedding down of its sale to Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin.
Mr Hohnen founded Cape Mentelle, located on Wallcliffe Road just outside Margaret River as well as the company’s sister wineries Cloudy Bay, situated in the Marlborough region of New Zealand, and Mountadam Winery in Eden Valley, South Australia.
He is considered one of the key players in the development of Margaret River as a major wine district.
