Dave Kelly is the Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for Bassendean.
After winning office in 2017, he became Minister for Water, Fisheries, Forestry, Innovation and ICT, Science. In December 2019, Mr Kelly was stripped of his Fisheries portfolio over his stance on shark and crayfish policy, to nationalise 17 per cent of the rock lobster catch and make the State Government the biggest single rock lobster fisher in WA. Mr Kelly will take over the Youth portfolio instead. Following the 2021 state election, Mr Kelly became the Minister for Water, Forestry and Youth but had to relinquish all portfolios in the 2022 cabinet reshuffle.
Prior to entering politics, Mr Kelly worked for a trade union United Voice for 20 years including 10 years as state secretary.
