Darren Klemm has more than 30 years of experience in fire and emergency services, having served three years with the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service before joining the WA Fire Brigades Board in 1993.
He has led the Department of Fire and Emergency Services for almost a decade, having been named commissioner in 2017.
Prior to becoming commissioner, Darren Klemm was assistant commissioner, metropolitan operations at the Department of Fire & Emergency Services.
Mr Klemm has been heavily involved with the National Council for Fire and Emergency Services since 2018 and was appointed president of AFAC's board in 2018.
He is a member of several national committees concerned with emergency management in Australia, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from the Australian Institute of Management.
