Winthrop Professor Christobel Saunders AO is a breast cancer and melanoma surgeon also involved in research and teaching at the University of WA. She has a passion for health and medical research advocacy and has been closely involved in strategic planning of cancer services nationally as an advisory council member of Cancer Australia, a board member of Breast Cancer Network Australia, and a member of the Lead Clinicians Group. She is the author of the WA Health Cancer Services Framework and the inaugural director of the Cancer and Palliative Care Network. She has substantially contributed to cancer research including numerous clinical trials of new treatments, psychosocial research, translational and health services research. Prof Saunders has also published 88 scientific papers in referenced journals, two books and 18 book chapters.
