Octava Minerals has kicked off the first drilling in almost half a century at its Sweeney's prospect in Tasmania, zeroing in on a rich mix of copper, zinc, silver, tin and untested high-grade indium. Octava set to drill WA Gascoyne after critical minerals leach success

Octava Minerals will launch aircore drilling next week at its Byro Critical Minerals Project in WA's Gascoyne region, following outstanding bioleaching test results which showed recoveries of up to 85% rare earths, 92% lithium, and 78% vanadium. Octava has planned an 18-hole, 1000m program that, pending final approvals, will target a maiden resource via testing of high-grade zones in the host Coyrie Formation.

Octava chases historic Tassie copper-zinc-silver hits

Octava Minerals has launched exploration at its Federation copper, zinc, silver and tin project in Tasmania, re-opening historic ground last worked in the 1980s. The company has already tracked down Renison Associated Tin Mines' old drill holes and adits at the Sweeney's prospect, where previous sampling lit up with hits including 4.17 per cent zinc, 3.32 per cent tin and 1.23 per cent lead, pointing to untapped potential.

Octava, CSIRO “bioleaching” tests point to critical minerals extraction

Octava Minerals has received promising early-stage results from CSIRO tests of a low-cost bioleaching process of ore samples from its Byro rare earths and lithium project in WA's Gascoyne region. The stage one testwork focused on identifying, enriching and adapting microorganisms that can process the Byro ore. Stage two tests are underway to see which adapted cultures best extract critical and battery metals from the project's polymetallic samples.

Octava assays back up historic rich WA REE and lithium grades

Assays from metallurgical drilling at Octava Minerals' Byro rare earth elements and lithium project in Western Australia's Gascoyne region have backed up previously defined high-grade mineralisation. A hit from two 100-metre holes reached as high as 500ppm total rare earth oxides, 375ppm lithium oxide and 523ppm vanadium pentoxide over a 50m intercept.

Octava drilling to unlock 10km antimony corridor in WA

Octava Minerals has wound-up drilling at its Yallalong antimony project in WA's Gascoyne region, confirming visual signs of antimony mineralisation and unlocking the next phase drilling of 14 high-priority targets, to follow assay results expected early next year. Octava completed 41 reverse circulation drill holes for a total of 2748m across its Discovery and Central antimony targets.

Octava takes aim at rare earths and lithium in Gascoyne

Octava Minerals will pick up the Byro rare earths and lithium project in WA's Gascoyne after agreeing to purchase 100 per cent of the shares in private company Byro Mining. The conditional agreement will see Octava undertake due diligence on two exploration licenses at the project which has some tantalising historic exploration hits from drill cuttings peaking at 388ppm lithium oxide and 501ppm total rare earth oxides.

Octava locks in more Pilbara lithium, gold ground

Octava Minerals will become the sole owner of the prospective 202-square-kilometre Talga lithium project in the Pilbara after signing a deal to buy the remaining 30 per cent interest from its partner First Au. Octava will purchase First Au's entire project holdings – including a 20 per cent free-carried interest – for $200,000, 1.2 million fully-paid ordinary shares and a net smelter royalty of 0.75 per cent.

Octava drilling for lithium elephants in Pilbara

Octava Minerals has started drilling at its Pinnacle Well prospect in an area in Western Australia's Pilbara region known as “lithium elephant country”. Drilling at the prospect, 10km north of the Archer deposit that has resources of 18 million tonnes at 1.0 per cent lithium oxide, will test a significant lithium anomaly, including a 1.5km pegmatite showing visible lithium mineralisation.

Octava Minerals is putting boots on the ground at its Yallalong nickel-gold project, 220km north-east of Geraldton – and the CSIRO has jumped in with funding to help lessen the impact of the imprint. The “green energy” metals explorer has snared exploration funding from the CSIRO's Kick-Start program and will employ the agency's leading-edge technology to optimise sample collection, while simultaneously reducing on-ground activity.

Panton PGM hunt hotting up for Octava in Kimberley

Mineralisation was previously traced up to the tenement boundary. Drilling will also target soil and rock anomalies at Panton West, within the joint venture's ground.

Octava inks farm-in JV on East Kimberley projects

Green energy metals explorer Octava Minerals has entered into a farm-in joint venture agreement that enables fellow explorer Future Metals to earn up to 70 per cent in Octava's Panton North and Copernicus North nickel, copper and platinum-group metals projects in the East Kimberley. Octava will be free-carried through to a decision to mine and will receive about $600,000 in Future Metals shares.
