Engineering changes from the top down
The state’s major engineering outfits have experienced significant staff changes in the last 12 months as the sector stepped out from the gloom of the global financial crisis.
Ashley Wright has more than 25 years of postgraduate experience in major civil infrastructure, transportation and traffic engineering projects, including four years with a civil contractor involved in construction supervision. Mr Wright joined GHD in 2004 and has been a director since November 2013 with responsibility for the UK, Europe and Middle East regions since July 2013. In addition, he is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and has been an active executive committee member of the Consult Australia-WA Division since 2003 and represents CA on the Managing Director of Main Roads Construction and Maintenance Industry Advisory Group.

Ashley Wright has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of GHD. Mr Wright will be taking over from Ian Shepherd on his retirement at the end of March 2016.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has made its latest contribution to the national hydrogen industry with $1.71 million of funding to BP Australia to progress a feasibility study for its proposed renewable hydrogen and ammonia plant in Geraldton.
The team behind a planned green hydrogen project to be built near Dongara are hoping to raise $1 billion by the end of the year, while BP is undertaking feasibility on a plant close to Geraldton, less than an hour’s drive north.
