Andrew Goodwin has more than 30 years of international experience in engineering consulting services within the fields of energy and urban infrastructure. His expertise include executive management, technical leadership, management of complex projects, managing diversity, change and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) projects.
Prior to joining Cardno, Mr Goodwin was chief executive and managing director of SMEC (member of global consultancy, Surbana Jurong), an international consulting and engineering company operating in the areas of transportation, water and environment, dams and energy and international development. Under his leadership, SMEC expanded into a multi-disciplinary infrastructure consulting business, employing 5800 professionals in more than 40 countries. He had a significant role in building the business towards its acquisition by Surbana Jurong. Mr Goodwin held a number of senior executive positions for 12 years at Finnish engineering consulting company Pöyry in Thailand and Switzerland. As executive vice president of Urban and Mobility, and president of Hydropower, he was responsible for topline growth and associated profitability of the global transportation and hydropower businesses respectively. As managing director of Pöyry Energy Thailand, he had responsibility for the entire operational and the financial performance of Pöyry Energy (Thailand) and Pöyry Energy (Philippines).
Mr Goodwin holds a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Witwatersrand, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of South Africa, and the Oxford Advanced Management program qualification from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
