Alan Barrett

Alan Barrett commenced as executive director of the Botanic Gardens & Parks Authority (now known as the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions) in July 2018. Prior to that, he was at the Public Sector Commission and held directorships in various operational areas over 8 years. He also spent 8 years as a teacher and curriculum-writer, then held policy and corporate governance positions in the culture and arts portfolio. Mr Barrett has over 25 years of experience in public sector service delivery, governance and management roles; and has a knowledgeable understanding of statutory authorities, departments and oversight agencies. He holds a Masters in Business Administration and Public Administration.
