Alain Musikanth SC has extensive experience as a trial and appellate counsel, and as an arbitrator and mediator in commercial matters.
Mr Musikanth was a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers and practises in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on professional liability and contentious tax matters. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2023.
Mr Musikanth was admitted to practice in Australia in 2002 and South Africa in 1994, appointed senior counsel in 2018, and has spent much of his career as a commercial and tax lawyer practising at the independent bar. He has appeared as both lead and junior counsel in a wide range of contested matters in a variety of Courts and tribunals. Before commencing practice at the WA Bar in 2007, Mr Musikanth was special counsel in the commercial litigation division of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, and had spent 7 years as a barrister in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mr Musikanth has been a member of the Law Society of WA since 2001 (including as president in 2017), and was the convenor of the Society’s Professional Standards Scheme Committee.
