Terrain Minerals has joined the frenetic exploration and drilling fray in Western Australia's up-and-coming, clay-hosted rare earths province near Esperance. The company has joined the ever-growing rare earths search party in the area by launching a maiden proof-of-concept drilling program after securing heritage approval at its 100 per cent-owned, 320-square-kilometre Lort River project, just 50km north-west of the town.

West Cobar Metals has inked binding agreements to acquire private company Salazar Minerals and its clay-based rare earth elements project located 120km north-east of Esperance in WA. The Salazar project is hailed as one of Australia's most advanced rare earths assets of the clay variety and boasts an inferred resource of 43.5Mt at 1192ppm total rare earths oxide with low levels of uranium and thorium.

West Cobar Metals has mobilised a diamond drill rig to its Mount Jack copper-gold project in New South Wales with an initial 500 metre hole planned to test a bullseye ‘Cobar style' anomaly. Historical drilling in the area showed geochemical indications of copper and gold mineralisation in the cover rocks but failed to reach the modelled magnetic target interpreted to sit at approximately 200m depth.

West Cobar Metals has landed a grab bag of significant thick intersections of copper, silver, lead and zinc mineralisation at its Bulla Park prospect in NSW with drill hits spanning over a 1 kilometre strike. Significant assays returned include a 22 metre intercept grading 1 per cent lead and 20 grams per tonne silver from 253m downhole.

The company now plans to unleash the rig on its compelling copper and gold targets in NSW.

West Cobar Metals is set to pocket $5.5 million when it hits the boards at the ASX today and the rods are already primed to start turning at its exciting Bulla Park and Mt Jack copper-gold projects in and around the prolific Cobar basin of NSW. Initially the company is looking to drill test two enticing looking targets that were unexpectedly abandoned in historical drilling.
