The ACCC is examining whether a proposed takeover of Ruralco Holdings by a Canadian fertiliser giant could reduce wholesale competition and lead to discrimination against some independent retail stores.
Agribusiness Ruralco Holdings has agreed to buy Perth-founded water management retailer Total Eden Holdings for $57.4 million from Anchorage Capital Partners.
FarmWorks Australia says it will focus on agricultural chemicals, after selling off its branch and agency network in Western Australia to Ruralco Holdings for approximately $5 million.
