Liquidators of Perth Fashion Festival have failed in their bid to bolster a probe into collapsed industry body Fashion Council WA in the hope of clawing back half a million dollars.
Industry peak body Fashion Council WA entered administration on Friday, four months after private business Perth Fashion Festival suffered the same fate.
Creditors have opted to liquidate Perth Fashion Festival today, just days after festival director Tony Sage failed to sell down his Perth Glory soccer club stake; while the administrators had been unable to recover a debt owed to the company by industry body the Fashion Council WA.
The entity which ran the Perth Fashion Festival for 20 years, before operations were passed to the Fashion Council WA, has entered administration owing $819,000, with owners Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan and Tony Sage planning a deed of company arrangement.
The amount of money the state government pumps into big events like the Hopman Cup, the Perth Fashion Festival, V8 Supercars and Margaret River Gourmet Escape is set to remain a secret after a review by the auditor general.
