Former automotive tech business Kinetic was founded in Dunsborough by Chris Heyring in 1989. It was the entity housing the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System technology for automobiles, including Lexus and several makes of four-wheel drive vehicles. The business was purchased by a US components supplier Tenneco Automotive in 1999 for $51 million and operated in WA until 2008 when the parent group closed the local operations due to the global financial crisis and resulting recession in the US.
