The City of Kalamunda is located 24km from Perth and encompasses an area of 324km².
The local industries include orchards, intensive horticulture activities, grazing, animal agistment, minor sawmills, poultry, Government Works Depot and the CBH state grain terminal. The City also encompasses rapidly growing urban areas in the foothills, such as Forrestfield, High Wycombe, Maida Vale, Wattle Grove and an expanding industrial and transport hub adjacent to Perth airport.
The City is served by the Roe Highway and the Tonkin Highway.
Previously named the Shire of Kalamunda, the LGA became a city in 2017. It includes the suburbs of Bickley, Canning Mills, Carmel, Forrestfield, Gooseberry Hill, Hacketts Gully, High Wycombe, Kalamunda, Lesmurdie, Maida Vale, Paulls Valley, Pickering Brook, Piesse Brook, Walliston, and Wattle Grove.
