BGC was founded by the late architect-turned-construction-magnate Len Buckeridge on the back of a large and active affordable housing design practice.
BGC became one of Australia's largest and WA's largest privately-owned company, as a vertically integrated residential builder and commercial construction company with a significant construction materials manufacturing portfolio.
With the passing of the founder in 2014, efforts were made to both continue to manage BGC as a private business and meet the needs of the extended Buckeridge family. External management was brought in, and some asset sales were made to provide for the needs of the estate.
In April 2021 BGC Australia acquired Midland Brick, assuming management control of its staff and manufacturing operations.
However, various business issues and the impact of Covid-19 led to the closure of the building company to new business and prompted further asset sales, the biggest being the cement business in 2025.
That has left BGC as much smaller business, primarily focused on brick manufacture.
