In November 2015, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) took on the function previously administered by the Independent Market Operator (IMO). These functions include operating and developing the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and the Gas Services Information (GSI) functions in Western Australia. AEMO is the national energy market operator and planner.
