Satterley Property Group scraps fast-food plan for $18m showroom in Alkimos
Satterley Property Group has scrapped its fast-food development project in Alkimos and has received the green light to build a multi-million-dollar Harvey Norman centre on the site.
The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel unanimously approved the Nigel Satterley-led company’s plan to build a bulky goods showroom on Pateley Street, at its meeting on Thursday.
The development, estimated to cost $18 million, comprises a 6,359 square metre building to be anchored by Harvey Norman.
Satterley Property Group previously received approval to build four fast-food outlets and a liquor store, estimated to cost $8 million, on the Pateley site in November.
The approved drive-through fast-food outlets were to operate 24/7 while the liquor store was approved to operate 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 10pm on Sunday.
The development is part of Satterley group’s Trinity estate and is near the site earmarked for a Costco warehouse in Alkimos.
Satterley explored alternative site layouts during discussions with the City of Wanneroo earlier this year, according to the development application prepared by Planning Solutions.
At the meeting, the panel’s presiding member Karen Hyde said she was comfortable in approving the new development on the site.
“I think that this development has a lot less impact than the previous approval on the site and in so, a lot of its functions can be managed through conditions,” she said.
The project site is an undeveloped, commercial landholding fronting Romeo Road with connectivity to the Mitchell Freeway and the wider transport network, the panel’s report read.
