A third of this year’s winners were WA companies, making it the state’s best showing since the program began in 2019.

Two WA companies have taken out top honours in the latest iteration of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies awards.
Homegrown tech firm Kinetic IT and WA agribusiness Craig Mostyn Group were among six private companies recognised on Thursday night for their strategy, culture, innovation and governance chops.
Now in their fifth year down under, the Deloitte awards rank Australian businesses against a global network of more than 1,700 top-performing private companies to find the cream of the crop.
The 2024 awards mark the first time that two WA companies have taken out the top gong in the same year, representing a third of this cohort's award winners.
BGC was also recognised in 2021, while TSA Group was named a back-to-back winner in 2022 and 2023.
The first iteration of Deloitte’s management awards launched in Canada more than 30 years ago, and the program has since expanded to 46 countries worldwide.
Craig Mostyn Group and Kinetic IT – now a four-time consecutive winner – will embark on an eight-month campaign of coaching, networking, branding and promotional opportunities after taking out the management prize.
Kinetic chief executive Michael North said he was pleased to see his company recognised again in the 2024 accolades.
“Deloitte’s acknowledgment reinforces our commitment to leading and growing sustainably,” Mr North said on Friday.
“A huge thank you to our crew and Deloitte for this honour."
Craig Mostyn Group chief executive Wayne Crofts said he was thrilled to see his company recognised as one of Australia’s top managed private businesses.
"We are a 100-year-old family-owned company, and we want to be here for another 100 years," Mr Crofts said.
"To do that, we have to operate and grow sustainably, and our business drivers are framed with this in mind.
"This award is a tribute to the efforts and commitment of our people – not only our 1500-strong team today but over four generations and 100 years."
Deloitte partner and program lead Natalie Faull said resilience and agility were typifying factors among this year’s winners.
“[These companies] demonstrate an impressive ability to adapt with speed, remaining flexible in the face of an uncertain global and domestic environment to remain successful in a challenging market,” Ms Faull said.
“They also maintained a focus on digital transformation, making targeted investments in smart technologies like AI in ways that make sense for the business, driving efficiency gains.
“It is particularly gratifying to see the emphasis these companies place on continual improvement and operational excellence, which highlights the ongoing value of the Best Managed Companies program.
“These purpose-driven companies are industry leaders and key employers, setting an impressive benchmark for what success can look like for private businesses in Australia.”
