Mineral explorer DiscovEx Resources has outlined several additional target areas at its flagship Sylvania gold project about 15kms south of Newman in WA. The company recently wrapped a field exploration campaign that included gravity-based geophysics, geochemical sampling and a heritage survey and it is now gearing up to complete mapping, sampling and more geophysics en route to a maiden drill program at the project.

Mineral explorer DiscovEx Resources has outlined several additional target areas at its flagship Sylvania gold project about 15 kilometres south of Newman in WA. The company recently wrapped a field exploration campaign that included gravity-based geophysics, geochemical sampling and a heritage survey and it is now gearing up to complete mapping, sampling and more geophysics en route to a maiden drill program at the project.

The field work undertaken at Sylvania to-date has been centred around refining the current list of targets and uncovering new structures that could house both gold and base metal mineralisation.

After nailing down heritage surveys for many of its key target areas, DiscovEx now expects to launch its first drill campaign later this year and is on the hunt for a drilling contractor to carry out the probe.

The company says its target generation program at Sylvania has cultivated a strong pipeline of prospects and delivered a series of intriguing anomalies that look like they are begging to be drilled.

Earlier exploration at Sylvania took in an extensive phase one gravity survey, which has since been completed, reviewed and processed.

Several geological and structural target areas, including the newly-defined Kelpie and Prairie Downs West prospects, were unveiled as a result of the survey.

Curiously, the Kelpie prospect lies proximal to the Spearhole detrital iron inferred resource of 1.4 billion tonnes at 23.5 per cent iron.

The Prairie Downs West prospect sits in a fault zone which is considered to be a regionally significant mineralised structure that hosts several zinc/lead/silver/v‎anadium prospects.

DiscovEx says the Prairie Downs West prospect area is also an attractive target location for base metals development and importantly, no historical exploration was ever completed across the fault zone’s western tenements.

To shore up future targets on the western edge of the fault zone, DiscovEx will soon kick off additional geophysics.

The company has plenty to go after at its flagship Sylvania project including gold, base metals and iron ore – and success in either direction could push the company to new heights.
