South Perth-based Cooper & Oxley Group has won a $20 million contract over intensive care unit redevelopment works at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
The Department of Finance has awarded Cooper & Oxley a contract over the expansion of the intensive care unit at the hospital in Nedlands.
The contract is valued at $20.3 million, TendersWA shows.
Tender documents show the works will comprise of demolition, modifications and additions to portions of Level 4 of the hospital's G-Block to accommodate a “West Pod” intensive care unit.
The ICU will add a 10-bed pod which will be separated from the main unit, according to a state government announcement last month.
"Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital is one of the state's busiest tertiary hospitals, and upgrades to both the emergency department and ICU will ensure it's equipped to meet the needs of our growing community, now and in the future," Health Minister Meredith Hammat said in April.
"These upgrades are about putting our patients first, and creating a modern, more efficient space that ensures people can get the care they need, when they need it most."
Earlier this year, the state government awarded Cooper & Oxley a $44 million contract over other redevelopment work at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital including the upgrade of the emergency department and a new clinical toxicology unit.
