Western Australia has recorded 8,889 new COVID cases and seven deaths overnight, as the state prepares to return to baseline health measures at midnight.
This morning, WA Health confirmed a man in his 70s had died overnight and six historical deaths had been reported, including a man in his 70s, two men in their 80s, and two men and a woman in their 90s.
There are now 237 COVID positive patients being treated at hospitals across WA, six of whom are in ICU.
Today’s figures take the total number of active cases across the state to 43,118.
It comes as WA welcomes the removal of the remaining level one capacity restrictions for hospitality venues and major events, the indoor mask mandate and eased border rules from 12:01am tomorrow.
The state's high vaccination rate underpinned the decision, according to Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson, which was based on updated health advice presented to the state's emergency management committee.
The move has been welcomed by business and tourism lobby groups, including the state's Tourism Council, which said it marked a significant step forward for the tourism and events industries.
Meanwhile, the third dose vaccination rate continues to rise, with 79.2 per cent of Western Australians aged 16 and over having received their booster jab.
