Jo Wisdom has been appointed as the new director of the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub. The federal government-funded hub is led by the Grower Group Alliance and aims to support farmers, communities and industries operating in the South West region. In mid-2022, Dr Wisdom took up roles as innovation manager at GGA and adjunct lecturer and researcher at the University of Western Australia. She has worked in several different positions at UWA over the past 11 years, including research and development scientist, and lecturer and coordinator. Additionally, Dr Wisdom has former experience working as Plantagenet Wines director for nearly four years.
The Jamukurnu-Yapalikurnu Aboriginal Corporation has announced Rebecca Girdwood as its new chief executive. Ms Girdwood has a range of experience assisting Aboriginal organisations to align their corporate and cultural governance systems and formerly worked as Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation chief executive until March 2024. Ms Girdwood’s experience also includes stints as YSRC’s Yamatji Fresh non-executive chair, YSRC’s Yamatji Water non-executive chair, WA Sandalwood Plantations non-executive director, Perth Markets Group chief executive and City of Perth director of community and commercial.
PwC has made its first lateral partner hire in Perth in two years with the appointment of Kerryl Bradshaw to its advisory practice. Ms Bradshaw brings diverse experience to the role, most recently being a director of Infrastructure WA for five years. She is a member of CSIRO’s energy advisory group and will continue in that role after she commences as a partner at PwC. Ms Bradshaw’s most recent executive role was chief financial officer and interim chief executive at Kerry Stokes-backed BCI Minerals, which is developing the Mardie salt and potash project. She previously held executive roles at Microsoft, Rio Tinto and Worley Consulting. Her appointment comes after PwC’s Perth practice shrunk substantially in size as it dealt with the fallout from its tax advice scandal and the spin-out of Scyne Advisory.
Capricorn Metals chief operating officer Paul Criddle will take over as chief executive of the gold miner following the resignation of Kim Massey after five years. Mr Criddle joined Capricorn in May 2024, bringing experience from his time as chief development officer at Canadian gold miner Roxgold and as managing director at Matador Mining.
District Court judge Terence 'Terry' Palmer will join the Supreme Court of Western Australia bench later this month. Judge Palmer, who will start on January 28, replaces Justice Samuel Vandongen on the bench. In 2008, Judge Palmer started practising as a barrister and covered commercial issues including corporate law, insurance, and construction law. He was appointed as senior counsel in 2021. Judge Palmer was appointed as a District Court judge in mid-2023. Judge Palmer has been a barrister with Quayside Chambers and Francis Burt Chambers, and a senior associate at Clayton Utz. He was special counsel at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for two years. Justice Vandongen left the WA Supreme Court to become a Federal Court of Australia judge in December.
West Perth-based junior Rox Resources has recruited Greg Hoskins as chief financial officer, bringing 24 years of experience as a chartered accountant to the company. That includes more than 12 years of experience in mining in Australia and overseas. Mr Hoskins served stints as CFO of OreCorp and as group finance manager at Base Resources.
Kudzai Mtsambiwa has been appointed as chief financial officer at Subiaco-based junior Canyon Resources. Mr Mtsambiwa would also undertake the role of company secretary, facilitating the company’s investor relations. He has more than 10 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, which includes stints as Coda Minerals CFO and in a series of roles at Perseus Mining.
