Sally North has been with the Western Australia Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety since 2016 where she leads the WorkSafe Service Industries and Specialists directorate. This includes specialist teams in human factors and ergonomics, asbestos, occupational hygiene, plant and engineering, and industry teams covering the public sector & related industries and the retail & service industries. Ms North became the acting WorkSafe commissioner in September 2023. She started as WorkSafe Commissioner on July 1.
Prior to joining WorkSafe, she worked in private industry as a chemical safety consultant and an occupational safety & health officer.
Ms North holds qualifications in Chemistry, Occupational Safety & Health, Occupational Hygiene and Business Administration.
