MGC Pharmaceuticals has signed a key distribution agreement with Maltese based A.M. Mangion that will fast track the distribution of its medical cannabis pharmaceutical products into key target markets in Europe. The company is also weeks away from starting construction of its second medical cannabis production and cultivation facility that will produce GMP-grade pharmaceutical products on a commercial scale.

MGC Pharmaceuticals will focus on its cannabis-based pharmaceutical products after reaching a deal to sell its cannabis cosmetics division, MGC Derma, to Canadian private cannabis investment company CannaGlobal for CAD$12.5m in scrip. CannaGlobal will also commit to an exclusive five-year supply agreement for MGC to supply it with raw materials and proprietary production intellectual for the period.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has reached a major milestone after receiving formal authorisation to sell its CannEpil medical cannabis based epilepsy treatment in Australia through specialist prescribers under the Authorised Prescriber Scheme. This signals the start of commercial-scale production of CannEpil at MGC’s EU GMP certified facility in Slovenia. CannEpil is expected to generate $1m in annualised revenues from an initial base of about 100 patients.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has finalised the sale of its cannabis-based cosmetics business, MGC Derma, to CannaGlobal for a 10% stake in the private Canadian cannabis investment company. MGC has also received CAD$500,000 for an initial supply order under an exclusive five-year agreement to supply cannabidiol and cosmetics materials to CannaGlobal for the manufacture of the MGC Derma range of products.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has reached a partnership with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem to launch an international research hub – Cannahub - for medical cannabis in the first quarter of 2019. Cannahub will initially focus on the use of medicinal cannabis in the treatment of cancer, the effectiveness of traditional and medicinal cannabis combination treatments and drug delivery systems.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has secured approval from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration to start the Phase IIB clinical trial of its CogniCann medical cannabis treatment for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. MGC Pharmaceuticals has inked a deal with Chinese e-commerce import platform YuShop Global to sell the Perth-based company’s cannabis-based nutraceuticals into the Chinese market. The deal will see MGC Pharma’s products sold via YuShop’s online platform and network of 1,500 retail channel partners across China, including a luxury spa chain.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with UK medical cannabis leaders Grow Biotech and IPS, who have an extensive network of 5500 pharmacies across the country. The distributors will ensure that MGC’s products are registered with the all relevant authorities and manage the process of importing the products, through to delivering them to patients at home or selected pharmacies.

MGC Pharmaceuticals has made the first shipment of its medical cannabis-derived formulation for the relief of seizures associated with severe epilepsy into the UK. The company’s UK distribution partners Grow Biotech and IPS have already received initial prescriptions for the drug. This early interest is encouraging if the company’s prediction that the UK medical cannabis market will grow to €8.8bn by 2028.

MGC Pharmaceuticals and its research partner RMIT have been awarded a cannabis cultivation research licence from the Australian Office of Drug Control. ASX-listed medical cannabis player, MGC Pharmaceuticals has extended its reach to Brazil after signing a three-year exclusive distribution agreement with ONIX Empreendimentos e Participações. Brazil is a key emerging market with specialist market insight provider, Prohibition Partners, estimating that the Brazilian and Latin American medical cannabis sector could be worth up to USD$8.5 billion by 2028.

Medicinal cannabis player, MGC Pharmaceuticals, has unveiled a new medicinal cannabis-based line for Australian and New Zealand markets to be called “Mercury Pharma” with its first product, Mercury Pharma 100, a prescription-only 100mg/mL cannabidiol product. The company has received purchase orders for over 2,000 product units already, which will see revenues of around $270,000 realised.

ASX-listed MGC Pharma has secured a key market in Europe after signing an exclusive, commercial wholesale supply agreement with Polish NGO, Cannabis House Association and the University of Lodz to supply a large-scale research project in Poland. Under the deal, MGC Pharma will supply its medicinal cannabis-based, cannabinoid medicine products to up to 250 pharmacies and provide scientific support to the commercial research study whilst gathering participant data.

Medicinal cannabis player MGC Pharmaceuticals has inked a seven-year supply deal with Brazilian medical cannabis company Onix, with an estimated value of at least $1.65 million in the first year. From year two, the deal, which will see Onix purchase a bulk order of MGC Pharma’s pharmaceutical grade products, has an estimated value of at least $4.1 million per year.

ASX-listed MGC Pharmaceuticals has teamed up with the University of Notre Dame in Perth to undertake a new clinical trial for its “CogniCann” phytocannabinoid-derived medicine, after the first bulk shipment of the medicine arrived in Australia. Management said CogniCann was developed with the specific aim to treat symptoms associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease and it is already available under prescription in Australia.
