Rob Cossart was appointed chief executive of the Wheatbelt Development Commission in February 2020. He has extensive experience within the government sector, in water resource assessment and management, irrigation development, as well as in academia and research. Mr Cossart has been based in the Kimberley for over a decade, working for the Department of Water including as northern operations manager for the State Government's Water for Food program and as director of the northern region for the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development where he oversaw regional operations, irrigation and beef development portfolios across the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne regions including the Northern Beef Development program and the Carnarvon and Kununurra research stations.
