Deborah Leavitt

Deborah Leavitt began her radio career in Boston with National Public Radio before moving to Australia in 1988 and joining the ABC in 2001 where she produced radio programs and podcasts in Perth and Melbourne. She made the move into management in 2005, taking the helm at ABC Local Radio in Western Australia for ten years before moving to Sydney in 2013 to become ABC Radio National manager.
Ms Leavitt joined the Department of Education in July 2019 and provides strategic planning and direction for our marketing and communications. She is the director of communications & media and leads the teams responsible for our public relations, marketing campaigns, media relations and internal communication.
Ms Leavitt is a Fulbright Scholar selector.
