App/tech business of the week ~ Feedmee
Feedmee is a food discovery app, the ‘Tinder for food’. Users swipe through photos of food until they find what they want.
Brenda Lai co-founded U Group in 2018 and has served as chief product officer steering the company's product direction. Originally from
Taiwan, Ms Lai immigrated to Australia at 18 and pursued studies in event planning. Influenced by her entrepreneurial parents, she developed a passion for design and business from an early age.
Ms Lai and U Group co-founder Tyler Spooner launched their first business together in 2016, a start-up called "FeedMe App." The app provided users access to a digital library of restaurants to place orders, with each delivery resulting in a meal donation to someone in need. When this
business model proved unsustainable, the pair pivoted to a hand-picked grocery delivery service, which also presented logistical challenges, prompting the duo to launch their third and most successful venture, U Group.
