Basil Zempilas is the leader of the Liberal Party WA and a former media personality best known for commentating the Olympics and the AFL, as well as co-hosting 6PR’s breakfast slot alongside Steve Mills.
He declared his candidacy to become Lord Mayor of The City of Perth in July 2020 and was elected to the role in October 2020.
Mr Zempilas was elected as the Liberal member for Churchlands in March 2025. He was elected leader of the Liberal Party WA in March 2025.
