Westforce Construction was founded in Perth in 2006 as a small earthworks and concrete outfit. Twenty years on, it operates as a multi-discipline civil contractor across Western Australia's energy, infrastructure and resources sectors, with projects ranging from wind and solar developments to defence and water infrastructure. The business now employs more than 300 people and has been part of the Raubex Group since 2017.

What has stayed constant through that growth is the way Westforce goes about the work. The business is built on personal collaboration and clear communication, and treats a deadline, a budget or a contractual obligation as something that gets honoured regardless of how a project changes along the way. When something goes wrong, the expectation inside the business is to take ownership of it and find the fix, rather than look for someone else to hold responsible.

Paddy Kearns and Phil Clarke, who lead Westforce today as Executive Director and Managing Director, have been with the business since 2007 and 2010 respectively, and neither started in the role he holds now. That is not unusual inside Westforce. Much of the leadership team has grown into its responsibilities the same way, which is part of why this subject is one the business takes personally rather than treats as a talking point.

Twenty years after it was founded, Westforce continues to work on the projects shaping Western Australia's resources and energy future, and remains as invested in the people doing that work as it was when the business began.
