American West Metals has discovered thick high-grade copper assaying up to 3.7 per cent from deep diamond drilling at the Cyclone deposit within its Storm project in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, indicating a big mineralised system. The discovery hole was collared about 110m south of the North Graben Fault that cuts off the south side of the Cyclone target.

GreenTech Metals has intersected thick copper-zinc zones below six shoots during a new 1743m drilling program, indicating significant resource expansion potential at its Whundo project in WA’s Pilbara region. The campaign was designed to drill-test underexplored mineralisation along a 2.1km-long string of targets at Whundo and was followed up by DHEM surveys on selected holes in a bid to identify new copper-zinc mineralised zones.

Javelin Minerals’ reinterpretation of data from its Coogee project in Western Australia’s Goldfields region has thrown up a tantalising exploration theory that it is now primed to test with the drill bit. The company plans to determine if a magnetic anomaly lurking just 300m from an old open pit at the site is a potential repetition of the historic lode.

Aurum Resources has scored extensive gold grabs reading up to 11.46m at 6.67g/t in four diamond drillholes during a second campaign at the BM Target 1 within its Boundiali gold project in Côte d'Ivoire. The program entailed five diamond drillholes for 914.5m and delivered a crop of broad, shallow medium to high-grade gold hits, with responses indicating mineralisation remains open along strike and down-dip.

Surefire Resources is following up newly-found base metals soil anomalism at its Yidby East gold project in WA’s Mid West region, with renewed exploration set to test for possible Golden Grove-style deposit analogues. The broad-scale anomalous copper-zinc was identified at the company’s Phat Boy target, about 50km from 29Metals’ renowned Golden Grove copper-lead-zinc-gold-silver operation and other nearby volcanogenic-hosted massive sulphide deposits in the same belt.

Thunderbird Resources is homing in on evidence of uranium mineralisation after drilling significant hydrothermal alteration and detecting radioactivity at its Hidden Bay project in Canada’s prolific Athabasca Basin. The maiden four-hole drilling campaign was designed primarily to test possible basement-hosted uranium targets close to the Athabasca Basin unconformity and the company now believes it may be close to unveiling a uranium mineralising system.

ABx Group’s innovative work in exploring, drilling and processing ionic-adsorption clay rare earths deposits in Tasmania last year has been rewarded with a Federal Government rebate of more than $437,000. The timely cash injection comes less than a month after the company’s 83 per cent-owned subsidiary ALCORE received a similarly-sized rebate for its work on a process to recover and recycle waste aluminium fluoride.

The company can now secure up to 80 per cent of the BM operation it shares with Minex West Africa by hitting further exploration milestones.

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining has completed follow-up air-core drilling on thick gold intercepts from its Pinjin project in Western Australia’s Goldfields region as part of a mission to expand its promising Wessex target, just 650m south-west of Hawthorn Resources’ Anglo-Saxon pit. In a further extension to its latest campaign, the company also put 25 holes into its Kirgella Gift North and Providence West zones.

Surefire Resources’ soil sampling at its Yidby East gold project in Western Australia’s Mid West region has identified anomalous base metals similar to of the nearby Golden Grove style of volcanogenic-hosted massive sulphide (VHMS) deposit. The company’s Phat Boy target sits about 50km south/south-east of 29Metals’ world-famous Golden Grove and other nearby VHMS deposits in the same belt.

Aurum Resources has secured the renewal of its Boundiali South exploration licence, which hosts its advanced high-grade Nyangboue gold deposit, in the centre-north of the prospective West African country of Côte d'Ivoire. Boundiali South is one of four exploration tenements comprising Aurum's Boundiali gold project and hosts three prime gold prospects – Gbemou, Nyangboue and Nyangboue South.

American West Metals has jagged a 13.5 per cent copper hit in resource upgrade drilling at the Cyclone deposit within its Storm project in Canada – and it has also identified a new target 1.4km to the south. The company identified the new copper target while drilling the first hole south of the southern graben fault to test a geophysical anomaly, 450m south-west of its Thunder prospect.

Javelin Minerals has increased the JORC resource estimate for its Coogee gold-copper project near Kambalda in WA by 158 per cent to 3.65 million tonnes at 1.08g/t gold and 1.01 million tonnes at 0.41 per cent copper. The significant upgrade relates to a revised gold content of 126,685 ounces and was determined from an independent review of historic estimates, assumptions and drilling.

Buxton Resources says a new diamond drilling campaign has nabbed a 68m intercept featuring about 10 per cent of visual total graphitic carbon from 43m at its Graphite Bull project in WA’s Gascoyne region. The company has completed 1221m of diamond core and 3534m of ongoing reverse-circulation drilling at Graphite Bull in a bid to produce an end-of-year mineral resource, with all holes intersecting graphite.

American West Metals says it has defined more solid evidence of a possible giant copper deposit at its Storm project in Canada’s Nunavut territory, with two deep diamond holes boring through a respective 21.3m and 99.2m of visible copper. The drilling of seven deep diamond holes to date have all intersected the company’s prospective target horizon at depth and all have revealed copper mineralisation.

ABx Group’s 83 per cent-owned subsidiary ALCORE will look to further refine its process to recover and recycle waste aluminium fluoride after securing a $474,000 Australian Government rebate for its research-and-development work in the past financial year. ALCORE’s “world-first” and environmentally-friendly process has been designed to recover hydrogen fluoride from the excess bath that is produced during the smelting of aluminium.

Meeka Metals is set to plunge 22,500m worth of underground and grade-control drilling into its Murchison gold project in WA’s Mid West in a bid to unveil new mining areas to help fill its recently-expanded processing capacity. Management has also confirmed a new drill-for-equity deal with contractor Topdrill as it looks to assess high-grade plunging shoots beneath oxide open pits at its Turnberry mine.

Chariot Corporation has struck some intriguing mineralisation during exploration at its Black Mountain project in the United States, suggesting it may be homing in on a high-grade lithium source, which early evidence suggests may be lurking beneath. The company has confirmed the presence of rubidium in feldspar crystals, which is often a pathfinder to lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) mineralisation, with high ratios of potassium-to-rubidium being a further source of encouragement.

Legend Mining is preparing the diamond drill bit after identifying six important electromagnetic geophysical nickel-copper conductors at its Octagonal prospect within Western Australia’s Fraser Range. The company believes its newly-discovered conductors relate to and potentially extend the mineralised eastern margin of the Octagonal intrusive – part of its Rockford project – where previous drilling has already delivered multiple nickel-copper sulphide intercepts.

Javelin Minerals has identified a host of copper-gold exploration targets at its Coogee project in the St Ives goldfield in Western Australia after independent and collaborative reviews of reprocessed geophysical and other data. Recently-defined drill sites include a gold-copper target indicated by a high-intensity magnetic anomaly 300m north of the Coogee open pit and potentially down-dip from the company’s Coogee North mineralisation.

Novo Resources has opened the gates to further exploration activities at its priority Bamboo and Miralga projects in Western Australia’s East Pilbara region after securing a key Aboriginal heritage agreement. The agreement with traditional landowners will facilitate the company’s exploration activities across some 1500 square kilometres of its East Pilbara titles and will include non-ground-disturbing surface work such as mapping and geochemistry.

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining is all cashed up and raring to rip into a new air-core drilling program to follow up shallow gold targets identified in its first probing of the Wessex deposit within its Pinjin project in WA. The program will entail 4500m of AC drilling in KalGold’s bid to further assess results from Wessex just three months ago that included 28m at 1.27g/t gold.

Infinity Mining is stretching its wings into multiple new gold, copper and other base metal projects in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania, with ground acquisitions from two vendors covering more than 2000 square kilometres. The projects are well-situated near other mining operations and come with extensive datasets and existing workings that will assist the company to quickly gain a rapid foothold on exploration and development.

American West Metals has paved the way for a resource upgrade and extension for its Cyclone deposit in Canada, with notable new drill hits including 19.8m at 1.2 per cent copper and 3g/t silver from just 12.2m. That intercept includes 4.6m going 3 per cent copper and 7g/t silver from 21.3m and a 3m slice running 3.2 per cent copper and 8.5g/t silver from 59.4m.

GreenTech Metals’ recent downhole electromagnetic survey at its Whundo project in WA’s Pilbara region has identified a big conductor plate measuring 400m long and between 50m and 100m wide at its Shelby target. It comes after Fox Resources’ geophysical work in 2006 picked up a deep conductor associated with a weak magnetic response at Shelby, about 500m north of the old Whundo open pit.
