
Mark joined Birdon in July 2024 to lead Birdon’s Australian Defence and maritime endeavours by overseeing production engineering, planning, quality, and project schedules while fostering innovation and efficiency. Previously, Mark served as the Executive Manager of Operations at the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) in Henderson, Perth. Reporting directly to the ASC chief executive, he was responsible for developing and executing operational strategies aligned with ASC’s corporate vision. Leading a team of 1,500 full-time employees, Mark oversaw ASC’s operations in Adelaide and Henderson. His role encompassed defining production engineering, planning requirements, ensuring production quality, and managing project schedules. His focus on capability-building and innovation contributed to efficient and effective operations .Mark held a crucial role in delivering sustainment activities for Collins Class submarines and shipbuilding projects related to the Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessel program.
Mark’s career began in the Royal Australian Navy’s Aviation Maintenance Engineering division. He later transitioned to the Mining& Utilities sector. Before joining ASC, Mark held executive and GM roles at CS Energy and MMG. Notably, he served as Director of Asset Management at Newmont Mining in the U.S. Mark is a results-driven executive manager with a strong track record in health and safety leadership, cultural improvement, and operational excellence. His ability to identify critical business needs, address deficiencies, and implement solutions has significantly enhanced safety, productivity, and efficiency across heavy industries in Australia and internationally.
