St George extends nickel-copper zone at Stricklands

St George Mining has extended mineralisation at the Stricklands prospect within its flagship Mt Alexander project near Leonora, WA, after intersecting 14 metres of nickel-copper sulphides from a down-hole depth of 78m.

The reverse circulation hole is 100m northwest of a previous diamond hole that intersected thick, high-grade mineralisation from 37m down-hole.

Preliminary portable XRF readings of the new massive sulphide section from 83m to 88m returned average results of 3.5% nickel and 1.2% copper although this is subject to verification by laboratory assays.

Management said the mineralised ultramafic unit at Stricklands is interpreted to dip towards the north-west with potential for additional sulphide mineralisation at depth.

Mineralisation at Stricklands remains open in that direction and at further depth.

St George will now complete a down-hole electromagnetic survey to identify any extensions of base metal mineralisation adjacent to the hole and to plan follow-up drilling.

The company is also completing a diamond hole to a depth of 450m towards the south and underneath the known shallow mineralisation at Stricklands.

Executive Chairman John Prineas: “The mineralised intersection in MARC128 is outstanding as it confirms a significant down-plunge extension of the thick, high-grade mineralisation we first saw at Stricklands in MAD71.”

“The thickness of the cumulative ultramafic and the volume of nickel-copper sulphides intersected at Stricklands by multiple drill holes supports the potential of additional significant mineralisation being intersected along this strike of the Cathedrals mineralised trend.”

“The down-plunge area is largely untested by drilling and we are increasingly confident that further discoveries of nickel-copper sulphides will be made in this area.”

St George has also completed a down-hole electromagnetic survey at its newly discovered Radar prospect that indicates that the discovery hole had intersected the northern portion of the conductor with an extension of the conductor to the southwest.

Similar surveys at the Investigators prospect have identified strong off-hole electromagnetic conductors and have also been prioritised for immediate drilling.
