Ramsay Health Care has flagged a $77 million revamp of the private hospital at its Joondalup Health Campus site, which includes a seven-storey expansion.
The private healthcare provider submitted a development application to redevelop the health campus, on the corner of Shenton Avenue and Lakeside Drive, to the Metro Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel in February.
Ramsay Health Care’s application, prepared by town planner element with designs by Silver Thomas Hanley, said the expansion was expected to offer 85 additional beds, private theatres and day surgery.
A Ramsay Health Care spokesperson said the private hospital expansion would be funded by Ramsay.
A building on the eastern side of the site, along Lakeside Drive, has been proposed to be of seven storeys high to align with the existing private hospital.
If approved, 172 car bays would be removed to allow for the development but 84 parking bays would be incorporated around the building.
“In accordance with this, the capacity of the Joondalup Health Campus and private hospital indicates 1,903 car parking bays are required,” the application said.
“The car parking analysis thereby demonstrates that a significant surplus of car parking bays [of] 521 bays is currently provided.
“Considering the aforementioned car parking surplus, the modifications to the current car parking area and its resultant net loss of car parking bays will not adversely impact the operation of the Joondalup Health Campus and private hospital or surrounding local movement network.”

A $256.7 million expansion of the whole Joondalup Health Campus site is also ongoing, of which the federal government has committed $158 million towards under the Western Australian Hospital Infrastructure Package.
A 760-bay multi-storey carpark in the south-west corner of the campus site has also been completed as part of the $256.7 million expansion project, bringing the total parking bays currently at the health campus as 2,424.
The proposed day surgery and theatre will be built in the podium level of the seven-storey building, according to a document from Silver Thomas Hanley.
The $77 million private hospital expansion proposal will be assessed by the City of Joondalup for the council to make a recommendation for the JDAP.
